Roasted garlic hummus
Hummus is incredibly easy to make, not to mention much more cost-effective compared to store-bought dips. The benefit of making hummus at home is you know EXACTLY what is going into it, therefore no preservatives, and high nutritional value! Chickpeas are high in fiber and protein, essential for a well-balanced snack, and good quality olive oil and tahini provide amazing essential fats.
I topped this hummus with finely chopped roasted cashews, parsley, extra olive oil, and a sprinkle of sumac! Play around with your hummus toppings to make it extra delicious. This recipe is very versatile therefore don’t be afraid to change it up!
Ingredients
1 can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
3 Tbs olive oil
2 Tbs tahini
3 cloves garlic, roasted. If you are using raw garlic I would recommend using 1-2 cloves as it is a completely different flavour
1 & 1/2 lemons, juiced (more or less depending on how you like it)
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp sumac
1 tsp salt
Method
Add all of the ingredients into a food processor. Mix well until smooth, add more lemon/ salt if needed.
This hummus is very quick and easy to make however roasted garlic takes about 30 minutes in the oven! It makes the garlic sweet instead of spicy, but if you’re short on time just replace with raw garlic. If you are roasting garlic then place on a baking tray, unpeeled, at 160 degrees. Hummus is delicious to snack on with cut up vegetables, or a side to your meals.
